Lesson 3 - Case Studies
The final lesson of this course will consist of a number of case studies in two areas:
There are a number of required case studies for each area. The case studies are based upon the information learned about the ten accidents you studied in Lesson 2 of this course. They are designed to help you apply what you have learned to real world situations. There are also several optional case studies for each area, if you would like additional practice.
Each case study opens with a realistic design approval or COS scenario. You are then asked a series of questions about the scenario such as:
- Based on what you know, would you approve this design?
- What are the specific lessons learned that are most relevant to this project?
Each scenario is designed to reinforce some of the key lessons learned from the accidents studied in Lesson 2 (e.g., aircraft critical system isolation must realistically provide for full cone of engine debris).
The case studies may be viewed in any order. Select one of the categories above to begin. Once you have completed the case studies, select Next to go to the course summary.
